SRT Sound System
The SRT is a new system designed to recreate the resonance of an acoustic guitar body in a bodyless guitar. Yamaha developed the SRT system in collaboration with artists and studio musicians to create a system tailored to the unique properties of the new Silent body. The system has been modeled to reproduce the sound of Yamaha’s highest-end acoustic guitars, captured with the best and most suitable microphones in a professional recording studio. By realistically reproducing the sound of an acoustic guitar, right down to its natural sustain and decay, Yamaha allows guitarists to experience the genuine resonance, tone and ambience of a full-bodied acoustic guitar.
The sound generated The SRT system can even be mixed with the sound of the instrument’s piezo pickups for even greater creative flexibility.
Because the SLG can virtually reproduce the sound of a mic’d guitar, musicians don’t have to go through the hassle of miking their guitar for home or other recording situations.
Easy to Transport
The Silent’s top frame section is removable, making it far more convenient and portable than a conventional guitar. It comes with a conveniently transportable soft case that fits neatly into airplane overhead compartments.
Comfortable and Easy to Play
The Silent’s slim body gives these instruments exceptional playing comfort, and if a player ever needs to switch to an electric guitar, this won’t be a problem.
Design
With the Silent, Yamaha aimed to add a modern twist to the classic contours of a conventional guitar. The unique design that emerged is the result of a collaborative effort between the project team and the Yamaha Design Lab, and combines the lines of traditional guitars with an innovative, cutting-edge form factor that has never been seen before.
Silent
The Silent’s bodyless design delivers a quiet, natural sound that allows guitarists to play without disturbing others, for example, during late-night practice sessions or in the living room where the rest of the family is also present. The SLG200N is 90 percent quieter than a conventional classical guitar.
Reliability, robustness…
The Yamaha Silent is built to last: thanks to its solid body construction, the instrument stands up to the rigors of live performance and touring like any other professional guitar.
Both the steel-string and nylon-string models feature a dual-action truss rod that allows the neck to be adjusted for convex or concave deviation.
Functionality:
Play music by connecting it to an external player, use a host of effects, connect headphones for private practice… the Silent has many functions that make playing it a joy. The guitar also has a built-in high-precision chromatic tuner, can be powered by batteries or mains, and has a host of other useful features.
