The TASCAM IF-AN16/OUT is an optional expansion card that adds 16 balanced analogue line outputs to compatible TASCAM digital mixing consoles and multitrack recorders.
The outputs are provided through two 25-pin D-sub connectors, with eight audio channels carried by each connector. The card supports professional 24-bit audio at sampling frequencies up to 96 kHz.
Key Features
- 16 balanced analogue line outputs
- Two female 25-pin D-sub output connectors
- Eight analogue channels per D-sub connector
- 24-bit audio resolution
- Supports 44.1, 48, 88.2 and 96 kHz sampling frequencies
- Five selectable maximum output levels
- Individual output attenuation for all 16 channels
- Output attenuation range of 0 to −14 dB
- Fine 0.5 dB attenuation steps
- Professional TASCAM/AES59 DB25 pin arrangement
- Powered internally by the compatible host device
- Compatible with the TASCAM Expansion Slot system
Compatible TASCAM Equipment
Compatible models include:
- TASCAM Sonicview 16XP
- TASCAM Sonicview 24XP
- TASCAM DA-6400
- TASCAM DA-6400dp
Compatibility may depend on the firmware installed in the host device. DA-6400-series support for the IF-AN16/OUT was introduced with firmware version 1.40.
Channel Configuration
Total analogue outputs:
- 16 balanced line-level channels
Connector groups:
- Channels 1–8: First 25-pin D-sub connector
- Channels 9–16: Second 25-pin D-sub connector
All 16 channels remain available at:
- 44.1 kHz
- 48 kHz
- 88.2 kHz
- 96 kHz
Audio resolution:
- 24-bit
Analogue Output Connections
Number of connectors:
- Two
Connector type:
- Female 25-pin D-sub
- Eight balanced analogue outputs per connector
Locking screws:
- No. 4-40 UNC
The connectors use a professional TASCAM-standard balanced analogue pin arrangement. Compatible DB25 breakout cables or breakout boxes are required to access the individual output channels.
Output Levels
Nominal output levels:
- +4 dBu
- +6 dBu when the maximum output level is set to +15 dBu
Selectable maximum output levels:
- +15 dBu
- +18 dBu
- +20 dBu
- +22 dBu
- +24 dBu
The output reference level is selected according to the settings and capabilities of the host device.
Output Attenuation
Each of the 16 output channels provides adjustable attenuation.
Attenuation range:
- 0 to −14 dB
Adjustment resolution:
- 0.5 dB steps
On compatible DA-6400-series recorders, output attenuation can be adjusted individually for each channel or applied to all 16 channels together.
Output Impedance and Load
Output impedance:
- 200Ω or lower
Recommended connected load:
- 2 kΩ or higher
The outputs are intended for professional line-level equipment such as mixers, amplifiers, active loudspeakers, audio interfaces and broadcast-routing systems.
