The TASCAM MM-2D is a compact bidirectional Dante converter with two balanced analogue microphone/line inputs, two balanced analogue line outputs and four-channel Dante input and output.
Its built-in DSP and 6-input/4-output matrix mixer allow analogue and Dante sources to be processed, mixed and routed without requiring a separate hardware mixer or external DSP processor. It is designed for conference rooms, restaurants, retail stores, broadcast facilities, educational venues and other professional network-audio installations.

Channel Configuration
Analogue inputs:
- Two mic/line channels
Analogue outputs:
- Two line-output channels
Dante network audio:
- Four Dante inputs
- Four Dante outputs
DSP matrix:
- Six input sources
- Four mix outputs
The six matrix sources consist of the two analogue inputs and four Dante input channels. The resulting mixes, direct inputs and Dante sources can be routed to the two analogue outputs and four Dante outputs.
Analogue Mic/Line Inputs
Each analogue input can receive microphone-level or line-level audio.
Input specifications:
- Minimum input level: −74 dBu
- Maximum input level: +26 dBu
- Input impedance: 2 kΩ or higher
- Phantom power: 48V
- Remotely adjustable microphone gain
Connector type:
- MM-2D-E: Balanced 3.81 mm Euroblock
- MM-2D-X: Balanced three-pin XLR
Analogue Line Outputs
The MM-2D provides two independently processed balanced line outputs.
Connector type:
- MM-2D-E: Balanced 3.81 mm Euroblock
- MM-2D-X: Balanced three-pin XLR
Output impedance:
- 200Ω or lower
Selectable maximum output levels:
- +15 dBu
- +18 dBu
- +20 dBu
- +22 dBu
- +24 dBu
The selectable reference levels help the converter integrate with consumer, professional and broadcast audio equipment.
Input DSP Processing
Each analogue input includes:
- Mic/line selection
- 48V phantom power
- Microphone gain
- Input trim
- Phase inversion
- Four-band equaliser
- Compressor
- Automatic level control
- Digital fader
- Mute
These settings are controlled remotely using compatible TASCAM software.
Matrix Mixer
The built-in 6-input/4-output matrix mixer can combine:
- Analogue Input 1
- Analogue Input 2
- Dante Inputs 1–4
The matrix mixer provides:
- Independent source levels
- Flexible output routing
- Digital faders
- Mute controls
- Automatic ducking
- Ambient Noise Compensation
Ducking can lower background music when a priority microphone becomes active. Ambient Noise Compensation can automatically adjust an output level according to changing environmental noise.
Output DSP Processing
Output processing includes:
- Ten-band equaliser
- High-pass filtering
- Low-pass filtering
- Adjustable delay
- Limiter
- Phase inversion
- Output fader
- Mute
- Fader and mute grouping
Each output can be processed independently to match its connected amplifier, powered speaker or room zone.
Dante Network Audio
Network connections:
- DATA: RJ45
- DATA+PoE: RJ45
Network standard:
- Gigabit Ethernet
- 1000BASE-T
- IEEE 802.3ab
Recommended cable:
- Shielded Cat5e or higher
The two network ports support switched daisy-chain operation, allowing compatible Dante devices to be connected without a separate network switch in smaller systems.
AES67 and Dante Domain Manager
The MM-2D supports Dante AES67 mode for integration with compatible AES67 and Ravenna network-audio systems.
It is also compatible with Dante Domain Manager for managed Dante networks requiring user authentication, system segmentation, remote monitoring and enhanced security.
Control Software
TASCAM DCP Connect
DCP Connect provides detailed system configuration for installers and system integrators.
It can control:
- Input gain and phantom power
- Input and output DSP
- Matrix mixing
- Dante and analogue routing
- Scene presets
- Output levels
- Mute settings
- Signal monitoring
TASCAM EZ Connect
EZ Connect provides simplified daily controls for end users, such as:
- Source selection
- Zone-volume adjustment
- Mute
- Preset selection
The installer can restrict which controls are available to end users.
Scene Presets
Up to 50 scene presets can be stored.
A scene can contain:
- Input settings
- DSP parameters
- Matrix-mixer levels
- Routing
- Output processing
- Fader positions
- Mute states
This allows the system to be quickly reconfigured for different room layouts, events or operating conditions.
External Control on MM-2D-E
The Euroblock version provides additional external control connections.
These can be used for functions such as:
- Input muting through an external switch
- Output-volume control using a compatible external potentiometer
- External LED-status indication
These connections are available on the MM-2D-E and are not provided on the MM-2D-X.
