Description

Tascam ML-4D/OUT Four-Channel Dante-Analogue Converter With DSP Mixer

The TASCAM ML-4D/OUT is a compact professional converter that converts four Dante network-audio channels into four balanced analogue line outputs.

It includes a built-in six-input/four-output DSP mixer, allowing Dante audio sources to be mixed, processed and routed to the analogue and Dante outputs. It is suitable for conference rooms, restaurants, retail stores, hotels, schools, broadcast facilities and other professional Dante installations.

Available Versions

ML-4D/OUT-E

  • Four balanced Euroblock analogue outputs
  • External output-level control connection
  • Designed mainly for permanent installations

ML-4D/OUT-X

  • Four balanced male XLR analogue outputs
  • Designed for installations requiring standard professional XLR connections

Both versions provide the same Dante networking, DSP processing and audio-resolution capabilities.

Channel Configuration

Dante audio:

  • Four Dante input channels
  • Four Dante output channels

Analogue audio:

  • Four balanced analogue line outputs
  • No analogue audio inputs

Internal DSP mixer:

  • Six inputs
  • Four outputs

The internal mixer creates four independent output mixes from the available Dante sources and internal routing paths.

Audio Resolution

Supported sampling frequencies:

  • 44.1 kHz
  • 48 kHz
  • 88.2 kHz
  • 96 kHz

Supported bit depths:

  • 16-bit
  • 24-bit

Maximum resolution:

  • 96 kHz/24-bit

ML-4D/OUT-E Analogue Outputs

  • Four balanced Euroblock connectors
  • Terminal pitch: 3.81 mm
  • Output impedance: 200Ω or lower

ML-4D/OUT-X Analogue Outputs

  • Four balanced XLR-3-32 male connectors
  • Pin 1: Ground
  • Pin 2: Hot
  • Pin 3: Cold
  • Output impedance: 200Ω or lower

Output Levels

Nominal output level:

  • +4 dBu under standard reference settings
  • +6 dBu when the reference level is −9 dBFS

Selectable maximum output levels:

  • +15 dBu
  • +18 dBu
  • +20 dBu
  • +22 dBu
  • +24 dBu

DSP Processing

The built-in DSP provides:

  • Ten-band output equalisation
  • High-pass filtering
  • Low-pass filtering
  • Adjustable output delay
  • Output limiting
  • Phase control
  • Digital output-level adjustment
  • Mute control
  • Automatic ducking
  • Ambient Noise Compensation
  • Matrix routing

Each output can be configured independently for a connected amplifier, active loudspeaker or audio zone.

Automatic Ducking

The ducking function automatically reduces background-music levels when a priority source becomes active.

This is useful for:

  • Paging
  • Store announcements
  • Conference presentations
  • Public-address systems
  • Speech-over-music applications

Ambient Noise Compensator

The Ambient Noise Compensator can automatically adjust the programme level according to changes in surrounding environmental noise.

This is useful in restaurants, retail stores and public spaces where ambient sound levels vary throughout the day.

Dante Network Connections

Connections:

  • DATA RJ45 port
  • DATA+PoE RJ45 port

Network standard:

  • 1000BASE-T Gigabit Ethernet
  • IEEE 802.3ab

Recommended cable:

  • Shielded Cat5e or higher

The network ports support Dante audio transmission and switched daisy-chain connection.

Control Software

TASCAM DCP Connect

DCP Connect allows installers and system managers to configure:

  • Dante and internal routing
  • DSP processing
  • Output levels
  • Mute settings
  • Scene presets
  • System monitoring

TASCAM EZ Connect

EZ Connect provides simplified daily controls for users, including:

  • Source selection
  • Volume control
  • Muting
  • Preset selection

The installer can limit which controls are available to everyday users.
